This is the ultimate Ciabatta Garlic Bread. It's a really simple garlic butter recipe with grated parmesan and parsley. You only need 4 ingredients and some good quality ciabatta bread to make this oven-baked savory snack! I really hope you enjoy it!

    slice of ciabatta garlic bread

Regular garlic bread using a baguette is great, but replacing the French baguette with an Italian ciabatta bread roll or loaf is even better. I ate this ciabatta garlic bread with my sardines and eggs recipe the other day and they went SO well together.

This garlic butter recipe is super simple. You'll need salted butter (room temperature), garlic cloves, fresh parsley, and grated parmesan. I'll provide some top tips further down this post for the cooking process as well as ingredient substitutes for vegan and gluten-free options.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

Simple: you only need 4 ingredients for the garlic butter recipe. Just spread the garlic butter onto your ciabatta and whack it in the oven. It'll be crunchy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside.

Quick: make sure your butter is room temperature. Once it's room temperature, this recipe will take you a few minutes to rustle up and then only 10 more minutes to cook in the oven or air fryer.

Customisable: although we're making a really simple garlic butter for this garlic ciabatta recipe, you can totally add more flavours if you fancy. One of my favourite things to add is finely cubed chorizo. If you're really into cheese, you could add grated mozzarella too.

    Ingredients and Substitutions

list of ingredients for ciabatta garlic bread.

Ciabatta: I have to say I think this is one of my favourite types of bread! It's rustic, crunchy on the outside, and airy on the inside. The name "ciabatta" actually means slipper in Italian, referring to its flat, elongated shape. As you'll probably know, you can buy them as rolls or in loaf-form! I've seen a few great ciabatta gluten-free options if you're intolerant to gluten!

Butter: now, there are a lot of garlic butter recipes that use unsalted butter...but I think that's a waste of your time. I don't want you having to go out of your way to buy unsalted butter when I personally believe salted butter is way more delicious for this recipe and you're more likely to have it in your fridge or pantry. Feel free to use a vegan butter if you'd like. I love Flora.

Garlic: we're using fresh garlic for this recipe and I'd definitely recommend it over garlic granules. But if you want to use garlic granules, I'd recommend ½ teaspoon! If it's wild garlic season, then definitely grab a load of wild garlic, finely slice it up and use that instead of garlic!

Parsley: fresh parsley is always best. You can either go for curly parsley or flat leaf parsley. If you're not a fan of parsley, you could use other fresh herbs like cilantro/coriander, chives, or scallions/spring onions.

Parmesan: we're using grated parmesan for this ciabatta garlic bread. It's tangy and fantastic. You could also use grated pecorino cheese too! For something more melted, you could use a variety of cheddar and mozzarella! You can either use a plant-based Italian hard "cheese" for those of you who are vegan, or nutritional yeast is also a great option.

The full list of ingredients and quantities is at the bottom of this blog in the recipe card! The substitutions are all suggestions, I've not had a chance to test them but let me know how it goes!

    What To Do with Leftovers

Storage: Leave the garlic ciabatta bread to cool, then place in airtight containers and into the fridge for up to 3 days.

Freezing: You can totally freeze this bread. I'd recommend freezing it before baking. Freeze in airtight containers (don't forget to label with contents and date) for up to 3 months. Leave to thaw in the fridge overnight and then follow oven baking instructions.

Reheating: From the fridge, place the garlic bread in the oven for 5 minutes at 180c/350F until piping hot. Alternatively, you could reheat it in the microwave for under a minute.

    FAQs

How to make garlic cheese ciabatta.

Well, this recipe has parmesan in the garlic butter, but if you want to add more cheese, you could add grated mozzarella and grated cheddar cheese to the garlic mixture.

Can I add any more ingredients to the garlic butter?

Yes, for sure. Here are a few of my favourites: cubed chorizo, finely chopped chives, finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes, or finely chopped jalapeños.

Can I use unsalted butter for garlic butter?

I personally prefer salted butter, but if you've only got unsalted butter, that's fine. Just make sure to season the butter mixture with sea salt according to your preferences.

Can I make ciabatta garlic bread in the air fryer?

Absolutely! Set the temperature for the air fryer and cook for 5-8 minutes until golden.
